A new town centre is being planned for Cherrywood.

It’ll be the size of the Stillorgan Shopping Centre but with a feel of Ranelagh Village.

Developers have opened their doors to the public to show them what they have planned for the area.

Along with the town centre, they’re building 3,800 houses and apartments for 10 thousand residents, four schools and will build more office space around the current business park which will bring in 15 thousand workers.

Brian Moran is from Property group Hines Ireland:

“We will have higher-density apartments around the Luas stops and we see them primarily for renters. And then as you move away from the Luas stops, out into the rest of the land where the parks are, you will have family homes.

Three parks are planned for the area as Brian explains:

“Tully Park will be the same size as St. Stephens Green. Ticknick Park, up on the hills just behind the site, will have alot of major playing fields both for soccer and GAA.  And then Beckett Park, which is a small park within the scheme, we see being for tennis courts, basketball courts and all weather fields”.

The area has been earmarked as a Strategic Development Zone by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council which means planning applications will be fast tracked by the local authority.

The company hope to have the first part of their applications in by September and hope to start work on the new town centre early next year.

Members of the public can look at what Hines Ireland have planned, open days are taking place at their offices in Block D, Cherrywood Business Park from Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th between 8am and 8pm.
