The health minister says he's looking at ways to make epi-pens more widely available in emergencies.
James Reilly says his department is investigating ways to make it easier for people suffering a major allergic shock to get the shot of adrenaline they need.
The news follows the death last year of Dublin teenager Emma Sloan, who was denied an epi-pen during an allergic episode because she did not have a prescription.
