Na Fianna says the planned Metrolink will "rip out the heart and soul" of their club.

The 3 billion euro rail line will link Sandyford and Estuary near Malahide, via Stephen's Green and Dublin Airport.

But the underground section will mean 100 homes could be demolished and sports clubs disrupted.

Na Fianna is to lose three of its pitches for the six years of the contruction phase.

Home Farm soccer club will also lose its adjacent playing field on Mobhi Road in Glasnevin.

Although Transport Infrastructure Ireland says the pitches will be restored to "an immaculate condition", Na Fianna's Cormac O'Sullivan is up in arms.

"We'll be saying to TII simply that the preferred option should become the UNpreferred option pretty quickly. We'll be energising our membership to engage with the consultative process because of this goes ahead, it will have disastrous consequences for Na Fianna."
