There's a call for more Gardai to patrol certain parts of North Dublin, following a rise in anti-social behaviour.

A gang wearing balaclavas sprayed graffiti all over a DART carriage and threatened passengers with planks of wood on Tuesday night.

There have also been complaints about the use of quad-bikes and joyriding in the Darndale area.

Denise Mitchell, a TD for Dublin Bay North, said people living in Clongriffin and neighbouring areas are at their wits' end.

"My office has been inundated with calls from local residents who are furious at the poor Garda response times and the lack of a visible Garda presence in their areas", she said.

She explained that local Garda stations are under-resourced, and called for the Government "to ensure our communities are safe by providing adequate resources".
