Buses are still taking longer to get through College Green despite Dublin Bus reducing the number of double deckers by 20 percent.

City council chiefs have confirmed there may be more traffic restrictions on the way to deal with the gridlock.

17 routes are taking diversions to try and ease the congestion since the new Luas line opened, but the congestion is persisting even before longer trams come down the track.

Councillors were told at a meeting last night that the 55 metre carriages will begin snaking through College Green in the next week or two.

The city council's assistant CEO Dick Brady has warned further restrictions on traffic could be introduced.

Local authority chiefs are to meet with reps from the National Transport Authority today, to consider what they should be.
