Moonlight Wins Best Picture After La La Land Mistakenly Announced

The 2017 Oscars will go down in history for one of the biggest mistakes of all time.

It's after the wrong film was announced as Best Picture.

It appears Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were handed the wrong envelope and La La Land was read out.

The top prize had actually gone to Moonlight, but the cast and crew were already on stage before the mistake was revealed.

Warren Beatty tried to explain, saying he'd seen Emma Stone's name for La La Land. Emma had won Best Actress.

"I opened the envelope and it said 'Emma Stone, La La Land.' That's why I took such a long look at Faye, and at you. I wasn't trying to be funny."

Meanwhile, PwC - the accounting firm in charge of the ballot counting process - have issued a statement apologising for the mistake:
