The discovery of a woman’s body in South Dublin is now being treated as a murder investigation.
The remains of Joanne Lee also known as Joanne Ball were discovered in a wardrobe in Ranelagh yesterday, and may have been there for several days.
The body of Joanne Lee was found wrapped in a sleeping bag in a wardrobe at an apartment in Ranelagh yesterday afternoon.
Gardai are now treating her death as a murder investigation following the results of a post mortem – which they aren’t releasing for operational reasons.
A man, who gardai believe is her estranged husband, was also found at the scene with serious injuries and is being treated in hospital.
38 year old Joanne was last seen on February the 5th at her parents home in Garretstown in Meath and was reported missing earlier this week.
Gardai are now trying to trace Joanne’s last known movements and whether she was killed in Ranelagh or elsewhere and her body moved here.
Her distraught uncle, John Curry, has told 98FM News "she was never in trouble in her life. My sister rang me to say she was missing and we sent out texts to everybody, put it up on Facebook and put it up on the taxi website. Then we got a phone call... The guards broke in, found her body in a wardrobe."
He added, "all I can say is why, why, why, why? This is a beautiful girl, so young and so pretty, away from us all. Just devastated."
Gardai in Donnybrook are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
