Met Eireann has extended its Status Orange snow-ice warning for Leinster, Munster, Cavan and Monaghan. The alert is in place until 12 noon tomorrow, Sunday March 4th.

The forecaster said: "Widespread lying snow and ice continuing to lead to hazardous conditions.

Snow melt will continue to increase river levels and may lead to localized water flooding especially in the smaller mountainous catchments and in urban areas."

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow alert has been extended for Connacht and Donegal until midday tomorrow.
