It's official. Ireland will see snow showers on the day the country turns green.
There had been observations that the Beast From the East could make his presence felt on St Patrick's Day.
While forecasters say it's not correct to compare this weekend's low temperatures with that weather event, there will be some falls of snow.
There's a band of rain on its way overnight which has prompted a Yellow Weather Warning for Leinster.
Temperatures will stay fairly mild for the rest of the week but are set to drop over the weekend.
Met Eireann's Liz Gavin says "very cold conditions will extend across the country on Saturday and Sunday. It's a bit far off at the moment but there is the likelihood of snow showers particularly in the east. Temperatures look like they'll be around 3 to 5 degrees."
