Pope Francis has warned that allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry could lead to the destruction of traditional families.
His comments come following previous appeals from the leader of the Catholic Church for understanding and compassion towards gay men and women.
The Pope's remarks were made as he addressed a mass rally in Manila, as the run-up to the referendum in May starts to heat up here at home.
