A man's been injured following an assault and the ramming of a car in the north inner city.

It happened when a car rammed another vehicle at Beresford Place at around 5am.

Two men abandoned the car that had been targeted, and fled on foot.

They were chased by a number of men from the second vehicle and the male passenger was assaulted at Custom House Plaza.

His injuries are not life threatening and the driver of the car was unhurt.

No arrests have been made and Gardai say their investigations are continuing.

The early morning attack has led to major delays for rush hour commuters.

The right lane from Amiens St inbound onto Beresford Place is closed following an incident. However, all other lanes have reopened. It's still slow there on approach from the Malahide Road junction on Clontarf Road.

Inbound on Gardiner Street there is also no left turn onto Beresford Place. Delays on Gardiner Street inbound from Dorset St to Beresford Place.

Ballybough Rd is also heavy from Clonliffe Ave onto Summerhill and through to Gardiner St.
