A man has died in a shooting in Drumcondra.

The body of the man was found shortly after 11 o’clock this morning outside the Cat and the Cage pub on Church Avenue.

It's a popular venue for student teachers at St Patrick’s College and matchgoers at Croke Park.

The scene has been sealed off and a full garda investigation is underway.

There are reports that a second person was shot, and that a car has been found burnt out in a nearby street - but neither has been confirmed by Gardaí.

Emergency services including ambulances have been at the scene, while Gardaí have sealed off the area for a forensic and technical examination.

The Garda helicopter is also in the air above the scene of the shooting.

Large tailbacks are now affecting Drumcondra village back onto Dorset Street in the city centre - as more detectives and emergency crews arrive.
