A man arrested in connection with a fatal house fire in Terenure has been released without charge.

A 44 year old man died after the blaze at a house on Oaklands Terrace in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

He was taken to St James' Hospital where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

Three people were rescued from the upper floor.

In a statement, gardaí said they are “investigating all of the circumstances around the fire” – amid reports it was the result of an arson attack.

The man arrested is reportedly from Lucan but is currently homeless and has been linked to a West Dublin gangland criminal.

Gardaí said he was released without charge this morning with a file being prepared for the DPP.
