Tesco is still refusing to deliver groceries to some estates in west Tallaght, citing anti-social behaviour in the area.

An Post staff were intimidated in the area earlier in the year, but postal services have now resumed.

In a letter seen by 98FM, Tesco Ireland says it has "taken a business decision" to operate a reduced service in the area in order to "protect the safety of our colleagues".

The supermarket says it will "keep this decision under review".

Local Sinn Féin TD Seán Crowe says Tesco should engage with the community and consider ending the ban.

He says it's causing hardship for elderly locals.

"I wasn't aware that that ban was continuing until an elderly family approached me," he said.

"They have major problems getting their shopping delivered. The wife is not physically able to leave the house, and the husband finds it difficult to get down to the local shops and back again."

"It's for their sake I'm making this appeal to Tesco to look again at this," he said.
