We have a culture of thinking that people will clean up after us.
That's the concern of Green Party Councillor Claire Byrne - who has been helping with a community clean up along the cities Grand Canal banks this weekend.
Pictures on social media have circulated showing the area heavily littered.
Grand canal clean up playing an absolute blinder today. Wonder how many of the hundreds of people who enjoyed a bev here over the past couple of nights are out cleaning up this morning...👀 pic.twitter.com/35zv976B0C

Councillor Byrne stated that people should be able enjoy themselves in the sun - without leaving a mess.
"Really people need to be a bit more responsible and take their rubbish home with them.
"As a city we need to be providing more infrastructure, probably larger bins and more of them during the summer months. But then people also need to be a bit more responsible, take their stuff home and maybe we need to do an awareness campaign around that."
