Liffey Valley is getting a multi-million euro facelift.

Bosses say the revamp, which will make room for a Penneys, six restaurants and bigger cinema, will create 450 jobs.

The €26M project, which will increase floor space in the centre by 16%, will also include a new outdoor civic space.

Those behind the expansion say permission for the development was granted in 2013, but no works have started yet.

The project is expected to create up to 225 construction employment opportunities during the development phase and approximately 450 full and part-time jobs upon completion.

Centre Director Denis O’Connell said the announcement "represents an exciting new phase of development for the Centre which has evolved into a major shopping destination for west Dublin and beyond.

"Now in our 17th year of trading, Liffey Valley boasts full occupancy with 100 tenants including anchor brands Marks & Spencer, Next, Dunnes Stores and Boots", he added.
