A Dublin landlord has been forced to hand over properties in Mountjoy Square, Harold's Cross and Tallaght.

The High Court order comes after tenants in one of the homes, which was run-down, were injured while being forcibly removed last weekend.

They had asked the Residential Tenancies Board for advice after being continuously harassed, and landed with illegal rent increases.

They had reported that they were being hounded by phone, text, WhatsApp and Facebook message.

Despite being granted peaceful occupation of the flat until RTB proceedings concluded, the tenants suffered a number of injuries - including broken ribs - when heavies arrived to kick them out last Sunday.

Michelle Connolly from Dublin Central Housing Action says cases like this aren't unheard of.

"A lot of the time people start getting harassed by their landlord, start being pressured to pay more rent or accept various conditions or to put up with behaviour from the landlord that is just not acceptable".

She went on to explain that "because it's just such a hassle, often many people will just agree to move on".

Anyone who feels they are not being treated properly by their landlord or letting agent can check out advice from the Residential Tenancies Board here.
