The Irish Prison service is set to spent around €130,000 on art supplies for inmates with a creative side.

Over 3,400 paint brushes and 4 tonnes of pottery clay will be purchased using taxpayers money, according to the Herald.

315 thousand match sticks will also be bought along with 45 modeling kits to allow them to build replicas of Mississippi riverboats and bow top caravans.

The prison authority says artistic activities allow prisoners to "achieve personal development and establish an appetite for lifelong learning".
