A 24-year-old Irish man has been found with serious head injuries in an alleyway in Liverpool.
It is believed the man was assaulted following an altercation with two other men.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that a man was hospitalised after he was found near the Walkabout bar.
Detective Inspector Matthew Kerr says that, “this was a nasty attack on a man who had been enjoying a night out. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack and is currently in a critical condition in hospital."
Two 19-year-old men are being questioned over the attack.
Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage and are appealing for witnesses.
