The hunt is continuing for an escaped convict who stabbed two prison guards at Tallaght hospital on Tuesday.
Fifty three year old Derek Brockwell fled with an accomplice who had been waiting outside the facility on a motorbike.
He had been brought from Portlaoise prison for an appointment, and reportedly went into a toilet after arriving, before emerging with a knife and attacking the two men.
Special Correspondent with the Irish Independent Paul Williams says the investigation into the incident will have two main points:
Meanwhile a cabinet minister says the prison service will 'draw lessons' from the escape while the Prison Officers Association says they have questions about why an armed guard wasn't present.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton says he doesn't want to prejudge the authorities' reaction to the cases, but says lessons will be learned.
