HIV Ireland are teaming up with gay dating app Grindr in a bid to get more men to test themselves for the virus.
Gay and bisexual men who use the app can now order a HIV self testing kit for free as part of European HIV Testing Week.
Using a dedicated function within the app, Grindr users across Ireland will be able to directly access HIV Ireland’s MPOWER HIV self-test order portal.
Self-test kits will be sent by post, in discreet packaging, to an address of the service user’s choice.
Adam Shanley of HIV Ireland; “For various service users, including those living in rural areas or individuals who are not openly "out" to their families, barriers to access can become even more pronounced. Thinking outside of the box to make HIV self-testing more accessible provides users with a convenient and discreet option to prioritise their health at a time and a place that suits them.”
