Halawa Trial Postponed For Fifth Time

The trial of Ibriham Halawa has been postponed for a fifth time.

The 19 year old was due to be sentenced at a mass trial in Egypt today.

The teenager from Dublin has been detained in Egypt since August 2013, following his arrest during a protest at a mosque in Cairo.

The Halawa family say that Ibriham is being beaten in prison, and he could be sentenced to death.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says Ibrahim Halawa's welfare while in custody remains a 'primary concern'.

The statement from Charlie Flanagan's office follows claims by the Irish teenager's family that his life is in danger in the Cairo jail where he's been held for almost two years.

Minister Flanagan says he wants 'to see Ibrahim back in Ireland with his family' - however Ibrahim's sister Somaia, says not enough is being done:
