The government's being told it can ease up on austerity - by more than half in October's budget.

The left leaning think-thank NERI says it only needs to take 800 million euro out of the economy - instead of the 2 billion figure suggested by other bodies.

The Institute's Dr Tom McDonnell is worried about tax cuts flagged by the coalition like changing the threshold for income tax:
