Wicklow's infamous bring-your-own festival will be serving alcohol for the first time.

After 90-year-old laws banning the sale of booze on Good Friday were lifted, BD Festival has announced that it will be stocking its bars this Easter.

The festival, at Glendalough House, has been running for 11 years but has never had drink for sale before but ticket-holders could bring their own.

“For the last ten years we have been one of the few events taking place on Good Friday", explained Brian McDermott, Festival Promoter.

Brian explained that they will continue to operate a BYO policy, "however we welcome the new licensing legislation which means we can provide full bar facilities".

This year’s line-up includes: The legendary Kerri Chandler, The Magician, Fleetmac Wood, Smash Hits and Bingo Loco.

Tickets are on sale now, and a bus service will be available to ferry people to and from Dublin City Centre.
