Gay Couples Could Get Married As Early As September

Gay couples might be able to get married as early as September.

Work will begin this week to draft legislation to put marriage equality in place following Saturday's referendum result.

The constitution will be formally changed in the coming days, when the president signs the bill into law.

Meanwhile there are calls for the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland to review how its rules around balance were implemented in the Marriage Referendum debate.

The head of the National Union of Journalists here says broadcasters sometimes had to let factual inaccuracies go in their efforts to ensure both sides got fifty percent of the air time.

Seamus Dooley says that restriction on Journalists needs to be relaxed, in order to encourage a broader discussion on the issues:

Following the referendum result, Tourism Ireland has unveiled a new campaign targeting the gay wedding market.

It's shot a video showcasing 'romantic locations to tie the knot'.
