There could be a breakthrough in attempts to avert Ryanair's first ever pilots' strike.

Ryanair has offered to meet with IMPACT on Tuesday and has called on the unions to call off next week's threatened action.

On Friday, Ryanair said that it would recognise unions for the first time ever but that a meeting with IMPACT wouldn't be until Wednesday.

The planned strike is due to take place on Wednesday so IMPACT responded saying if Ryanair don't meet before Wednesday, the strike will go ahead, only 5 days before Christmas.

So the ball was back in Ryanair's court, and they released a statement offering to meet on Tuesday.

As of Sunday morning, there has been no response from the unions.

While this 'toing and froing' between both Ryanair and IMPACT keeps rumbling on, Ryanair customers are patiently waiting (and hoping) that they'll be flying home for Christmas.
