Fianna Fail is celebrating victory in the Carlow-Kilkenny by-election.
Bobby Aylward won the seat, ahead of Fine Gael's David Fitzgerald. Sinn Fein's candidate Kathleen Funchion was in third place. New party Renua Ireland's Paddy McKee faired well, polling ahead of Labour's Willie Quinn.
It’s the first victory for Fianna Fail in a by-election since Brian Lenihan won Dublin West in 1996.
