An emergency motion to save the Poolbeg chimneys from demolition is to be debated by Dublin councillors today.
An ESB review of its site which could result in taking down the towers, has caused outrage among locals, politicians and interest groups.
They say the chimneys are iconic, are part of the Dublin skyline and should stay.
Councillor Dermot Lacey is proposing the motion to have the towers listed as protected structures..
