Educate together national schools in Dublin are massively over subscribed.
Some are receiving up to 6 times more applications than they have available places.
A sample of four of the group's Dublin schools show more than 1200 applications were made for 335 places.
For junior infants this September Shellybanks in Dublin 4, Balbriggan, and Holywell in Swords all have too many applications for the number of childre they can take on.
The biggest demand was in Castleknock where 350 people are looking for 58 spots.
An Educate Together school is to open in the Pelletstown area next year and the group is also set to apply to run a number of other schools in the Dublin area.
