People who fought in the Easter Rising will be remembered in Dublin this afternoon.

The 1916 Relatives Association is paying tribute to their family members who fought in the rebellion almost 100 years ago.

A wreath will be laid, along with a poetry recital, at the Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square at 2pm this afternoon.

Spokesperson Donna Cooney says as we approach the centenary, it's important to remember all of the people who fought in the Rising, and not just the signatories:

Separately, a parade to mark the Easter Rising is also taking place in the city centre this afternoon.

The socialist republican party Eirigi, will travel from Townsend Street to Liberty Hall from 4pm.

The group have criticized the Government for their plans to commemorate the Rising, by remembering the lives of Irish and English people equally.
