Thousands of people attended events around the country today for the anniversary of the 1916 Rising. Today marks the exact date that the Rising began 100 years ago.
A parade took place in Dublin earlier this afternoon, while a free concert is just finishing up at the GPO. Actors, dancers, musicians and community groups all took part in the events.
President Michael D Higgins and acting Taoiseach Enda Kenny both attended an annual commemoration ceremony at Arbour Hill this morning, where several of the Rising leaders are buried.
