Over 6000 Dunnes Stores workers are on strike across the country today in a row over job security.

The 24 hour work stoppages are taking place at 107 shops after 67 percent of Mandate Trade Union's members at the company voted in favour of action.

The dispute is over what the union says is an "excessive" use of temporary contracts and a refusal by Dunnes to negotiate over grievances.

Striking workers are appealing to members of the public not to cross picket lines.

These Dunnes staff members in Dublin say their colleagues working conditions are unfair.
