A new report has found Dun Laoghaire East Pier is in need of urgent repair works.
Structural beams which support an area known as Berth 1 are at risk of failing.
Its thought that the repairs to a 75 metre section of the pier will cost more than 1 million euro.
The berth is also the location for the proposed urban beach which was granted planning permission last week.
