Irish Water says the cut-offs that north Co. Dubliners are dealing with won't be extended across the city.

Skerries residents say they're being seriously disrupted by water shortages that show no sign of easing.

Irish Water is asking people there as well as in Loughshinny and Rush to keep conserving supplies for the foreseeable future.

Other areas affected include Barnageeragh, Hamilton Hill, Town Parks Newtown Parks, St Patrick's Close, Kelly's Bay, Skerries Rock, parts pf Downside, Greenhills and Millview.

The utility is going to turn on the taps until 10 this morning to allow tanks in homes and businesses to refill.

Irish Water's Yvonne Harris hopes to extend this in the coming days

"At this moment in time, our engineers are assessing water levels in Thomastown Reservoir. We hope over the coming days we'll be able to extend the amount of time that water goes into homes. Today it's from 6am to 10am."
