A meeting to discuss crime in Dublin has heard that a generation is being lost to Dublin's gangland feud.

The meeting was organsied by the lord mayor, with senior gardai, youth workers and concerned members of the public attending.

A key part of this forum was the Hutch/Kinahan gang war as well as intimidation suffered by families.

One community worker said that kids as young as 10 are reenacting the Regency Hotel murder with kids saying "you take the glock, you take the AK 47 and you drive the car."

He added that youth programmes can't compete with the amount of cash on offer to young people at a very early age.

Even the state's top negotiator Kieran Mulvey who was asked to compile a report said he didn't realise how big the job was.

But no td on the Taoiseach's inner city Taskforce was at the meeting.

Assistant Garda commissioner Jack Nolan said we will keep getting on top of the criminals.
