Dublin's Fingal is a step closer to having its own Coastal Greenway.

It has been given the green light to start construction on the first 1.8 kilometres of a pedestrian and cycle route linking the coastal towns of Baldoyle and Portmarnock.

Director of Planning and Strategic Infrastructure, AnnMarie Farrelly says it will also allow tourists to view Fingal's incredible coastline:

"It's going to be a fantastic amenity but it can also be used as a commuter route and it will be lit in dark, really exciting opportunity to deliver on our Greenway strategy."
