Dublin's back in Bloom this weekend, with organisers of the gardening and food festival gearing up for its 9th year at the Phoenix Park.

The much loved floral-fest is taking place from Thursday 28th until Monday the 1st of June.

Designers will be hoping their landscaping wins best in show, while visitors can pick up expert tips at the gardening demos.

Bord na Mona is the compost sponsor of the event, and Marketing Manager Karen Smyth outlines what's in store:

Dubs are being encouraged to get green-fingered, even if they live in a little apartment. The big trend this year is 'Vertical Gardening' i.e. decorating your balcony or small plot.

Bord na Mona has launched its Grow With Us selfie campaign in a bid to get more people into gardening, be they young or old, urban or rural. Take a selfie in the garden and send it along with a short description to Bord na Mona's Growise Facebook page or on Twitter @GrowiseGarden using #GrowWithUs.

People are being urged to ditch the car and take public transport. There's also a shuttle bus that leaves from Park Gate Street to Bloom and back throughout the day. It will run between 8.30am and 7pm.
