Ireland is to get its first official nudist beach - and it's opening in Dublin.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has agreed to put up signs at Hawk Cliff in Dalkey notifying people of nude bathers.

The Irish Naturist Association has been campaigning to have a designated area where nudists can bathe without togs for a number of years.

This is the first time they have been granted permission officially, and Pat Gallagher from the group doesn't believe Irish people are as prude as some think.

"There is many thousands of Irish go on naturist holidays or nudist beaches as part of their holiday".

He also dismissed concerns about children, saying that "any child who is in the part of the cove should be accompanied by a parent as it isn't very safe".

While a trip to the beach in Ireland normally requires putting more clothes on than taking them off, this nudist beach will swing into action in Dalkey from April.
