Dublin's tail is wagging in anticipation ahead of celebrations to mark the Chinese Year of the Dog. The Chinese Zodiac has 12 signs, including Dragon, Snake and Pig.

2018 is the turn of everyone's favourite - the dog. To mark the occasion Dublin's Chinese New Year Festival is throwing events over three weeks in February and March.

There are plenty of pooch-themed things to do including a dog costume art workshop, dog life-drawing classes and the Curious History of Irish Dogs talk.

DCNYF organisers say the "bursting schedule is full of colourful engaging talks, fun dog themed events, scrumptious food and tours."

Ten children surrounded by a display of 25 beautifully coloured Chinese umbrellas have helped launch this year's festival, with a stunning Chinese Lion and two friendly dogs.

The Dublin Chinese New Year Festival takes place from the 16th February - 4th March 2018, and you can find out more about the programme here.
