Plans for the city's first parking-protected cycle lane have been backed by the Dublin Chamber.
The Fitzwilliam cycle route would separate cyclists from other road users in an aim to benefit cycling safety.
The consultation for the plans closed yesterday, some groups have said that the project would have an impact on traffic flow.
But Graeme McQueen from Dublin Chamber says that its much-needed:
"I think this is a really important project for Dublin we are really lacking good cycling infrastructure in the city."
"We are seeing the number of people cycling around growing all the time but its still too unsafe in good chunks of the city this one in Fitzwilliam street will be a real landmark project for the city."
