Dublin Airport is to again try to charge for collecting or dropping off passengers.

A new planning application has been lodged with Fingal County Council to create paid zones outside terminal one and two. It will also involve changing the internal road network.

It would see number plates read at entry and exit, with charges based on how long the driver spent in the area.

In the original proposal, daa which operates Dublin Airport said it was in a bid to reduce car journeys to and from the facility and stop private drivers picking up passengers outside the terminals.

Planning permission was refused in February with the council saying it would have posed a risk to human safety.

While Ryanair had objected saying the zones would have a negative impact on customer experience and create an extra cost for passengers.
