Doubling Of Profits for Dublin's Biggest Private Landlord

Dublin's biggest private landlord has announced a doubling of its profits in the first six months of this year.

I-RES - a real estate investment trust which owns 2,600 properties nationally, but mostly in Dublin - confirmed profits of €69.5 million.

That represents a sharp increase - helped by a housing crisis that has seen the company's occupancy rate sit at almost 99 per cent.

The trust currently owns almost 2,500 properties across Dublin, and recently acquired 128 apartments at Hampton Wood in Finglas, at a cost of €40 million in May.

According to the Irish Independent, much of their stock was started and abandoned before the 2008 crash. It was then restarted within the last four years as more cash became available.
