There are calls for an education ombudsman as new statistics claim 95 per cent of parents' complaints go nowhere.

The Vice Chair of the Oireachtas Education Committee says the children's ombudsman is being overstretched and we need help to make schools run smoothly.

Of the 9-thousand complaints received by the Office of the Children's Ombudsman so far, 4-thousand related to education.

Deputy Jim Daly claims he's been investigating the issue for the last two years and he's now written to the Education Minister asking her to create a new Ombudsman post.
