Fugitive Derek Brockwell is back in police custody after being recaptured last night.
The career criminal was discovered having a pint in Belfast.
Airports and ports were put on high alert after Brockwell stabbed two prison officers and escaped from Tallaght hospital on Tuesday.
It turned out that he had made his way up the road to Belfast where he was spotted outside a pub.
The criminal wouldn't go quietly and a violent struggle ensued.
He had to be tazered by the PSNI to be subdued.
Offficers are also investigating if he carried out a number of burglaries in the city yesterday.
The Dublin investigation is concentrating on the identifty of the motorcyclist who picked him up outside Tallaght hospital.
