A Dublin historian thinks a nineteenth century brothel could be the reason a sinkhole opened up on Dame Street.
The six feet deep crater became exposed on Tuesday night and caused traffic chaos with cars having to drive around it.
Gerry Cooley wants Dublin City Council to investigate the hole, rather than just fill it in.
He says it could be connected to a network of passageways under the street:
