Cyclists have taken to the streets of the city today to highlight their need for a designated cycling route in the city.

The 'ride-out' organised by the Dublin Cycling Campaign is calling on the development of a Liffey Cycle Route.

Around 200 peddling protesters gathered today for one of their monthly meetings.

Mike McKillen from Dublin Cycling Campaign says something needs to be done to improve safety:

"This morning was a ride-out of one of our monthly series that we're going to keep until the government and the National Transport Authority reveal the design and the routing details for the Liffey cycle route."
