A court has heard there have been more than 400 lines of inquiry opened into the murder of schoolgirl Ana Kriegal.

A 13 year old boy has appeared before a Judge for the third time charged with her murder.

The body of 14 year old Ana Kreigal was discovered in a derelict farmhouse in Lucan last month – a few days after she had been reported missing.

A 13 year old boy has been charged with her murder and was accompanied by his parents and granddad as he appeared before the Children’s Court earlier for the third time.

A garda inspector told the court 20 gardai have been working on the case with 425 lines of inquiry opened and 95 of those are still ongoing.

He said 230 statements have been taken, 255 exhibits seized and there are 625 hours of CCTV to be watched.

The Judge was told the 13 year old boy – who has been in detention since his first court appearance – is applying for bail in the High Court on Wednesday and will undergo a psychological assessment before then.

The boy replied quietly to the Judge when he was asked about how he was getting on and about school.

He hugged his family before he was brought back into detention.
