A unit dedicated to tackling slum landlords has been set up by Dublin City Council.
Residents are being urged to report any issues like fire safety hazards.
According to the Herald a unit in the Environmental Health department of the city council has been tasked with inspecting substandard rental homes.
It's understood members of the unit are aiming to check out a property within 24 hours of a complaint being lodged.
If there are major repairs that need to be carried out, the council has the power to issue a statutory improvement notice.
Continued non-compliance will result in legal action.
