Dublin City Council has raised serious concerns about plans for a Garda command and control centre near Heuston Station.
Currently it's based at Harcourt Street but the lease on the building runs out in 2022 and a new home has to be found for the force's operations unit, described as the 'nerve centre' for all communications.
The Office of Public Works is due to issue a decision on whether to build a new complex between Heuston and the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham. It cannot be appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
In March the city council wrote to the OPW to raise concerns about how it would affect transport in the area.
There are also claims there would be an over supply of car park spaces.
Green Party councillor Ciaran Cuffe says the planned parking arrangements would see the maximum spaces limit breached by 440%.
Local residents say the development clashes with the council's policy on green spaces.
People Before Profit TD Brid Smith has riased concerns about traffic, wildlife and protected structures.
If the building went ahead in its current form, it would take space from a greenway route for cyclists.
