Guaranteed Irish will run ads on Communicorp group stations urging people to buy from Irish businesses under threat from Brexit.

Britain is due to leave the EU on October 31st.

If it does so without a trade deal, the British economy is expected to contract -- putting pressure on Irish companies.

The United Kingdom is Ireland's largest export market.

The government here has been warning exporters here to look for new markets and supply routes ever since the Brexit referendum in the UK in 2016.

Guaranteed Irish hopes it can encourage the Irish public to help.

"With Brexit uncertainty, it’s more important than ever that businesses in Ireland take steps to protect themselves from the economic fall-out," said Guaranteed Irish CEO Bríd O'Connell.

"Our new partnership with Communicorp will be invaluable in allowing our members to have their voices heard across Ireland and demonstrate their fantastic contribution to our economy and society," she said.

Communicorp said it was glad to back the call.

‘“We recognise the local villages and towns in Ireland are under real pressure, and for them to survive we all need to ‘Buy Local’. Without the support and trade of everyone, those communities will perish," said Communicorp Group CEO Adrian Serle.

"We are therefore delighted to be working with such a well-established and well-recognised brand as Guaranteed Irish, to further support our campaign to encourage Irish consumers to spend their hard earned cash with Irish businesses who support Irish jobs in Irish communities.”
